College Football Bet

Good Afternoon!

I appreciate everyone’s feedback and commentary on yesterday’s poll. I genuinely take it to heart and try to make this a better experience. I received some feedback yesterday that I’d like to expand on.

It went something like this: “Football bets have been inconsistent but your baseball bets have been a good tail.”

That is solid feedback. And I would totally agree. However, I totally expect it to be much more sharp from here on out.

My model gets better with data. Baseball got better and better as the season went on (yes, i know yesterday wasn’t great). Football is getting better and we are able to be more selective with our bets now that the data is getting better.

So, the sports with more games (baseball & basketball) are better for our model than sports with limited games. College football is 1/3 over before we really feel confident about the data we are getting.

Just wanted to point out that we are getting more confident in football!

On to another game…

I’ve found another matchup that I really like in College Football world. I’ve ran the data as well as a deep dive in the PFF metrics.

Before I dive in, let me just tell you that I look at a lot of games. If a reasonable case can be made for either team to cover or for either total to match we generally don’t bet that game.

We are looking for games where it is really difficult to paint a picture for a particular side or total. There is always a scenario where anything can happen, but we try to be selective and tuned into games where we feel very strong about the bet based on the data.
